At GALLERY Z, March winds bring with them selected works by mixed media artists Kim Ellery, Liz Kelley, Cindy Robinson and Melissa Thyden. The exhibit runs from Thursday, March. 10th through Saturday, April 2nd, 2016, with an Opening Reception Thursday, March 17th from 5-9PM.

The newly transformed Gallery Z (Est. Jan. 2001, celebrating 15 years) is thrilled to present this third of eleven exhibits so far this year. Join us on the third Thursday of the month as we celebrate the first citywide Gallery Night Providence event of the year this March 17th with all four artists present.

Kim Ellery, b.1963, a self-taught painter from East Greenwich, RI, works primarily with acrylics but includes various other mediums to create depth and texture. Using intuitive, freestyle painting techniques, Kim tells a story with each piece that expresses love, peace, joy and relationships between us and God, hoping to create a happier, brighter world through her art.

Liz Kelley, b. 1987, is a Providence-based artist, working primarily with gouache and ink. She graduated with a BFA from UMass Dartmouth, after which she spent time living in Los Angeles, exhibiting at FOLD Gallery and Ye Rustic Gallery. Liz's illustrations and designs are influenced by travel and people she meets. Her custom wedding invitations were featured in the magazine "Martha Stewart Weddings" in 2015. She currently creates art in her studio in Providence and exhibits in RI.

Cindy Robinson, b. 1956, is drawn to color and abstract expressionism. Largely self-taught, Cindy has taken courses in Barrington, Newport and Providence. She states "I find myself attracted to the discovery of color and form in abstract expressionism. I find that I have instinctively followed an abstract expressionist approach, and I have never been concerned with line." Cindy's acrylic paintings feature rich colors and texture. She works full time as an artist and has exhibited all over New England, as well as several high-end contemporary online galleries, and maintains a studio in Providence.

Melissa Thyden, b. 1987, is an illustrator, painter and fashion designer who creates work with youthful, colorful energy. Melissa has taken courses from the Boston School of Fashion Design, the Worcester Art Museum and has a BFA from UMass Dartmouth. Her clothing line "Cosmic Unicornz" features hand painted shoes, denim, silkscreened T-Shirts and handmade accessories. Melissa's illustrations and paintings are inspired by 1980's cartoons, art nouveau and contemporary street art. Her studio is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

The works will be exhibited on the four new walls recently installed in Gallery Z. March, 17th 5-9pm marks the first Gallery Night event of the 2016 season, and Gallery Night's 20th anniversary. Gallery Z is a tax-free zone. In addition, Gallery Z displays an ever-changing selection of original art works (paintings, photographs, drawings, mixed media, glass, sculptures, assemblages, etchings, lithographs) from a deep stable of over 300 locally, nationally and internationally renowned fine artists, along with fine ceramics and pottery, jewelry and Armenian and international handicrafts. The adjacent "Italy" room features Dreamy Venice offering a wide variety of luminous Murano glass jewelry and glass gifts, representing the 1000 years of Venetian expertise. All items are personally chosen and imported from Venice by Gallery Associate Linda Kamajian in a rainbow of colors.
