October 29- November 23, 2013
Opening Reception: November 11th 5-9PM

Born in 1970 in Syria, and with an MFA from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts in Armenia in 1996, Kevork incorporates his Armenian and Syrian heritage, with their long, rich and tumultuous histories, into his gloriously colored paintings, which teem with layered symbolism stemming from these heavily laden pasts and their enduring legacies. Six works are in permanent residency at the Gyumri Museum in Armenia, and several more at the Armenian Library and Museum of America in Watertown, Massachusetts. Kevork Mouad is represented in the Middle East by Rafia Gallery in Damascus, Syria, where he exhibited in 2009. Five of his pieces are in the permanent collection on the 70th floor of the Bourj Khalife in Dubai. He has had work auctioned twice at Christie's Dubai.

Solo exhibitions include Gallery Z in Providence, RI, and JK Gallery, Los Angeles, and in 2010 at the Courtyard Gallery in Dubai. A digital piece, The Map of Future Movements, toured as part of a group exhibition in Jerusalem and Ramallah, and was in the 2010 Liverpool Biennial. Group shows include the NYU Small Works Gallery in 2005 and 2007. In 2010 and 2011, Kevork co-produced and created two plays, with actress/singer Anais Tekerian of Zulal: Tangled Yarn and Waterlogged, which premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival and toured San Francisco and the Berkshires. Another show was performed in the Lincoln Center Atrium in NYC, with composer Ezequiel Vinao. As a teaching artist with the Silk Road, Kevork has worked with public school students throughout the five boroughs of New York City, and has been called back repeatedly as a favorite visiting artist. Upcoming exhibits include the Musee des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la Mediterranee in Marseilles, France (November 29, 2013), and a show Kevork is now organizing in Kuwait. Kevork Mourad currently lives and works in New York City.
