PROVIDENCE, R.I: PROVIDENCE, R.I: Join Gallery Z to celebrate the opening of our 127th exhibit, "Ian Mohon, Julian Penrose and Bob Dilworth" on September 19, 2013 from 5:00-9:00pm, as well as for our Art, Food, and Wine event on September 26, 2013, from 5:00-7:00pm.

Gallery Z is excited to open the fall season with a contemporary and intriguing display containing selected works of three Gallery Z artists, Bob Dilworth, Ian Mohon and Julian Penrose, all of whom are based in Providence, Rhode Island.

Ian Mohon, b. 1975, paints in acrylics and oils to create bright, dimensional works. Focusing on studies of the human form, Ian's textural and spritely color palette serve to move the eye across the canvas, forcing the viewer's vision to almost vibrate with energy and color. Originally from Houston, Texas, Ian relocated to Providence, RI, and has recently celebrated the birth of his first child.

Julian Penrose, b. 1961, creates three-dimensional assemblage art from found and recycled objects. With a background in landscape architecture, Julian's works reflect his knowledge of drafting and design. He has combined elements of the two disciplines over the years to develop his current style and work. These tight architectural compositions are often reminiscent of Cornellís boxes and Rauschenbergís constructions. "I find that the most common and usual object can be made into a thing of beauty", Julian states. His work is represented in Providence, RI, and Philadelphia, PA.

Bob Dilworth creates work that frequently tackles issues of race, culture, ethnicity, family, heritage and xenophobia through metaphor and allegory. His oil paintings are nationally recognized and exhibited, and he has won countless awards. Bob has taught art and design at colleges and universities throughout the country, including Princeton University, Brown University and Columbia College in Chicago. He now teaches full time at the University of Rhode Island.
