Gallery Z invites you to join us for the opening reception of “Rhode Island Latino Artists,” an exhibition of work by a variety of artists from South and Central America who currently reside in Rhode Island . The reception will take place on Thursday, October 18 from 5-9pm, and the show will continue through November 10, 2007. Live music during the opening reception will be performed by Musica pa' Monte.

The influx of families and individuals of Hispanic background settling in Rhode Island has increased dramatically over the years, and amongst them are artists of impressive talent. The exhibition will showcase the work of a group of artists who origins span from Colombia to Cuba. Featured artists include Idania Abreu, Nilton Cardenas, Jaime Carrera, Luis Cepeda, Evans Molina, Carlos Ochoa, Arides Pichardo, and Sidney Tillett. All artists currently reside in Rhode Island except for Luis Horacio Sánchez (1949-1988), whose family resides in Rhode Island.

La afluencia de las familias y de personas de origen hispánico que viven en Rhode Island ha aumentado considerablemente en los últimos años. Entre dichas personas, existen artistas con un talento impresionante. La exposición mostrará trabajos de un grupo de artistas que provienen de una diversidad de países, desde Colombia hasta Cuba.
